About the crystals and stones:
We incorporate the finest materials in the world into our designs. We work closely with international and
domestic suppliers to source the best crystals, agates, and gemstones.
Our crystals are leaded crystal, which have been hand or machine cut with facets. Lead oxide is added to
molten glass, which gives it a much higher sparkle than glass. All our crystal is lead safe.
We also use “natural” crystal (known as quartz) like in the Cascade, Luminescent, Variability, Flint and other
necklaces. Lemon quartz, smoky quartz and rutilated quartz are three of Katy's favorite stones. Our pearls
are freshwater/cultured (made by putting a grain of sand in a mussel). We use real amethyst, turquoise, and
chrysophrase. The larger stones are agates, some dyed to enhance the naturally occurring stripes, and some
are natural.
About the metals:
Our metal suppliers are based on the West Coast, with some in Oregon. All ear wires are hypoallergenic.
Antiqued Brass and/or Antiqued Silver
Our antiqued finishes are baked on to a strong jewelry-grade steel base. The rich patinas lend unique
character to each piece.
Gunmetal Aluminum
Our jewelry-grade aluminum is lightweight, yet very strong. The finish is very resistant to tarnish because it
is anodized*. It's good for sensitive skin. Aluminum was once a precious metal, viewed to be more valuable
than gold. It is now more readily available than ever before due to advancements in the market for recyclable
metals. *(Anodized means that a material such as aluminum, has been subjected to an electrolytic process, where electrical currents
are used to apply a finish. The process hardens the aluminum and makes it resistant to tarnish.)
